Despite his diminutive size (as his name suggests, he is approximately as tall as your thumb) Thumbkin manages to lead a life full of adventure. This hat features a pocket just big enough for Thumbkin, should you come across him in his travels, and is sized for every member of the family. Even if you don’t ever need to give Thumbkin a lift, you may appreciate the pocket as a handy place to put loose change, a little map, or – if you are a knitter – a little tape measure.
Sizes:
16 (17, 18, 20)” finished circumference. The hat will stretch several inches larger than its finished circumference. The extra small size should fit most infants, the small should fit most small children, the medium should fit most older children and women, and the large should fit most men.
Yarn & Needles:
Shibui Knits Merino Alpaca (50% merino, 50% alpaca, 120 meters/132 yards per 100 gram skein), colorway “seaweed.” 1 (1, 1, 2) skeins, or Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes (50% merino, 50% alpaca, 90 meters/100 yards per 100 gram skein).
You will need a 5mm/US 8 16" circular needle, and a set of double-pointed needles in the same size, or whatever size gives you the correct gauge.
