Knit in the round on two circular needles, Hidden Path socks look like plain stockinette socks from the front, but feature a lace motif running down the back of the leg. Another unusual feature of the sock is its “upside-down” gusset, a gusset which runs along the sides of the sole, rather than diagonally across the ankle.
This pattern is suitable for knitters who are comfortable knitting socks on two circular needles, can follow a chart, and don’t mind being a little adventurous with their gussets. Techniques include right- and left-leaning decreases worked on both the right and wrong side, yarn overs, and picking up stitches.
Recommended yarn: 1 skein Cascade Heritage Sock Yarn (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon, 100gm, 400m/437 yds) or an equivalent amount of your favorite fingering-weight sock yarn.
Recommended needles: two 2mm/US 0 circular needles, 24" in length
